Election Predictions

Since hindsight is 20:20 vision, here goes with a few predictions on tomorrow results.

Mayor’s race:

First place will go to Skorman.  I still think Bahr finishes second, but Bach has had a large media presence in the last ten days, so he could slip into second place, but I doubt it.  Gallagher finishes fourth, with all the others in single digits.

Council Elections:

District 2:

I have no clue.  I do not live in that part of town and find it very hard to get a read on it, other than to say it is very conservative, both on social issues as well as fiscal issues.

District 3:

This is a 50-50 district and the only place an openly liberal Democrat like Merrifield would have a chance to win a council seat.  Two years ago Heimlicher won carrying only a scant more than 51% of the votes.  This is an embarrassing number for an incumbent running a well-financed campaign against a person with very little name recognition and even less money.  I am going to take a flyer and give the nod to Merrifield by a whisker; riding on Skorman’s coattails.

Council At Large:

Five names here, in no particular order:  Snyder, Doug Bruce, Paige, Martin and Leigh.  I just hope Leigh can hold on to the seat after he wins it.

You should be able to find the results here after 7:15 pm, April 5, 2011.  This is when the City Clerk will post the results of the ballots counted to that time.  There will still be ballots to be counted and added to the result, but after watching city elections for 28 years, the totals for each candidate will increase, but the order of the candidates will not change.
